Product Description
WG0401 is an enriched extract that enhances the biologically beneficial phytonutrients found in tea. WG0401 has demonstrated an array of benefits in nutrigenomics discovery models and human studies. This proprietary ingredient is standardized to specific theaflavins (naturally found in black tea and enhanced through a natural process) to optimize the health benefit. WellGen has led the development of a method to assure product quality.

Intellectual Property
There is a package of pending patents and one issued patent related to WG0401.
US patent 7,238,376 was issued for WG0401 in July 2007. The patent covers among other things the use of WG0401 for arthritis, inflammation and cancer.
Mechanism of Action
WG0401 has been studied for nutrigenomic effect. The approach of the WellGen Inflammation Program is to restore and maintain balance in gene expression related to a healthy inflammatory response. WG0401 modulates expression of essential and predictive genes in the inflammation cascade including COX-2 and IL-10.
Product Development
Oral delivery formulations of WG0401 have been developed for nutraceutical applications. Softgel capsules, tablets and glucosamine combination tablet formulations have been produced in pilot plant quantities.
Ongoing product development activities in functional food and beverages include energy bars, juice drinks and refreshment beverages.
Opportunity to License
